Peggy Sue’s on San Pedro Square
Brothers Marcello and Armando America have a long history in San Jose as restaurateurs. They both started in the restaurant business as children, and have over 40 years of combined restaurant experience. Their parents, Carlo and Lidia America, originally from Italy, owned San Jose's very well-known Jack's Pizza for 25 years. Marcello owned and operated Grande Pizzeria from 1998 to 2004, while Armando continued the tradition at Jack's Pizza. So, if you see Italian dishes as daily specials at Peggy Sue's, now you know why!
Marcello and Armando are devoted to providing their customers with great food in a family-friendly environment. Their hands-on work ethic is what they believe sets Peggy Sue's apart from other restaurants. You will always see them - apron on - and ready to jump right in with the rest of the staff. All items are prepared fresh daily, from the hand-stamped Angus burgers to the homemade Italian dressing.
Peggy Sue's is not only committed to serving up fresh burgers at the restaurant, but also caters for many community events such as Music in the Park and the Model-T and VW car shows at History Park in San Jose. You may have also seen Peggy Sue's at functions such as The City of San Jose Anti-Graffiti Volunteer Appreciation BBQ, Saint Leo's Sock Hop, Saint Joseph's School Anniversary parties, and maybe even in your own backyard.
With a fifth year underneath their belts, the America brothers continue to look forward to serving up food the way it was meant to be, the "good old fashioned way." If you are ever in San Pedro Square in heart of Downtown San Jose, come on by and say, "Hello!" And while you're at it, have a burger – a good ol' "America" burger, that is.
